The Forge of Gilliath, Part 2
The Nine Fold Gate Book 4
Coming Spring 2024
The Forge of Gilliath Part 2 follows the story of Iuxime. She has defeated her mad brother and destroyed the power of the Temple of Aiasier. She has made promises to her new allies that she must keep. She returns to her homeland to take up her rightful place on the scorpion Throne. But The Temple is not as broken as she thought and her welcome in Ashay is not quite what she expected.
Brennus, Tullimaneshi and Hrfna must find a way into the Forge of Gilliath to retrieve items that the god Gilliath needs. But the Forge is a ruin, choked with molten lava and the abode of dwellers.
They must put their faith in a friend they no longer trust and pray that they can survive.
Brenn and her children must travel to the dwarven kingdom of Raft so that Berana, Wolfram’s daughter, can take up her place as Lord of the dwarven House of Raft. But there are rivals for the lordship who see Berana as a half-human imposter. And let’s not forget, Bera, goddess of the wild has sunk her claws into the child. Bera does not relinquish her rights lightly.
Now that they have discovered that Graise has the powers of a Soul Keeper, Snee and Himminel know that they cannot remain in T’eag. She will inevitably come to reclaim her birthright. But thanks to the Velvet Speaker Anoria, Mazam-O-the Gate has long been prepared for them. To reach it they must pass through the army of Wolven that surrounds the ancient city.
And Baelon, growing in his power, sees terrible things in his own future. Despite Anoria’s warnings that no vision can be un-done, Baelon must do everything he can to prevent himself from killing the woman he loves.
And Graise is coming. Leading an army of monsters, mages and soul keepers. And her destination?
All roads lead to Mazam-O-the Gate.
Characters
Baelon
Baelon has spent his life being kicked out of towns and villages like he’s a bad smell…but then he generally smells damp and musty and abandoned so it’s hardly unexpected.
And then one day in the northern town of T’eag, whilst standing on an upturned bucket on the corner where Honey Street meets The Rag Market, words just flood into his brain. Words he didn’t think. He meets two people who will change his life.
What follows is a nightmare.
Snee
Twenty years ago, Snee was the Night Commander of the Watch to the King of T’eag.
Until, that is, one fateful night when the Queen gave birth to her first born child. Even as the queen lay screaming in her bed, Snee and her friend Twizzle hunted a thief through the streets of T’eag and through the teeth of a terrible blizzard.
What they found in the cold changed them utterly and shattered their lives.
Wolfram
Wolfram was born to Vulfmar, brother to King Hurm and Lord of the dwarven house of Raft. On Vulfmar’s death, Wolfram was recalled to Raft to take his fathers place.
But Wolfram had left the north years earlier, disgusted with the treachery and duplicity of the dwarven court. No coward, he desired enemies he could fight head on, rather than ones whose chosen weapons were poison, lies and deceit.
But the lordship of the house of Raft is still vacant, and King Hurm is not one to leave a seat of power un-filled.
