The Pursuit of Wolves
The Ninefold Gate Book 2
Foremost defeated, carved into nine,
Scattered and lost in place and in time.
The first soul in darkness, deep beyond light…
The Pursuit of Wolves is the second book of the Nine Fold Gate series and continues the stories of Brennus, Connor, Snee, Iordanis and Ravenna.
The dead god Gilliath has returned, and is searching the world for the remaining parts of his scattered soul. Tasked by the goddess of death to stop him, Brennus, Iordanis, Ravenna and Connor must first find him, then learn how to contain him.
But other powers are moving and soon the specter of war begins to rise. Across the world armies are marching. Chaos is coming and everything we think we know is proving to be false.
In Carcamesh, the safest city in the world, Connor begins a quest to understand why the lore of magic is wrong. What starts as a simple question pulls his family into a battle with an ancient and evil corruption that lurks at the heart of the society of mages.
Ravenna returns to the Secret City to warn the soul keepers of the return of Gilliath. She discovers that a fragment of the gods scattered soul hidden within the city for thousands of years, has been released. She alone can prevent it’s escape into the world.
In Ashay, the Emperor and the all powerful Temple of Aiasier begin a crusade that could see the cult of the sun god burn all other faiths from the face of the world.
And in T’eag, Graise seeks to consolidate her hold on the throne and Snee, Iordanis, Baelon and Twizzle must find a way to steal back the Soul Blade and kill the avatar queen.
Meanwhile in the hill town of Keller, Harlon, the reluctant harbinger of the wolven, must select just one person who will be allowed to survive the wolven moon.
Set in a vast and dynamic world of gods and magic, this epic fantasy is perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time and Game of Thrones.
Characters
Baelon
Baelon has spent his life being kicked out of towns and villages like he’s a bad smell…but then he generally smells damp and musty and abandoned so it’s hardly unexpected.
And then one day in the northern town of T’eag, whilst standing on an upturned bucket on the corner where Honey Street meets The Rag Market, words just flood into his brain. Words he didn’t think. He meets two people who will change his life.
What follows is a nightmare.
Snee
Twenty years ago, Snee was the Night Commander of the Watch to the King of T’eag.
Until, that is, one fateful night when the Queen gave birth to her first born child. Even as the queen lay screaming in her bed, Snee and her friend Twizzle hunted a thief through the streets of T’eag and through the teeth of a terrible blizzard.
What they found in the cold changed them utterly and shattered their lives.
Wolfram
Wolfram was born to Vulfmar, brother to King Hurm and Lord of the dwarven house of Raft. On Vulfmar’s death, Wolfram was recalled to Raft to take his fathers place.
But Wolfram had left the north years earlier, disgusted with the treachery and duplicity of the dwarven court. No coward, he desired enemies he could fight head on, rather than ones whose chosen weapons were poison, lies and deceit.
But the lordship of the house of Raft is still vacant, and King Hurm is not one to leave a seat of power un-filled.
